Our fears don’t always make sense. Last week, we were hiking in a canyon, and we came across a slot canyon I wanted to explore. Heavy rains the week before meant the slot canyon was flooded. I took one look at it and said, “I think it’s fine.” My husband said, “You have no idea how deep that is.” And I said, “We know how to swim.” My husband then told me that there was no way we were going into that water, that it was way too dangerous, stupid in fact, and that I was afraid of the wrong things.
